A few days after my parents arrived, Josh left work early so we headed out for a little Aussie-style adventure–to find some kangaroos. We headed off for Sugarloaf Reservoir, which I wrote about a while ago. It was the first place that Josh and I saw kangaroos in the wild.
Unfortunately, we forgot that the reservoir closes at 5:00 p.m. We arrived at 4:45 p.m. So we made a quick dash out of the car, and luckily, the kangaroos were being cooperative and jumped right out to see us!
We enjoyed the view of a group of roos bounding away, and then we had to bound back to the car!
The afternoon was not a total bust, however. We stopped on the way home at a viewing tower that was built as a veteran’s memorial. It provided a lovely view of the surrounding countryside. The day had been overcast, but as the sun was beginning to set, some golden rays were streaming through the clouds.
We also found that you could see the Melbourne city skyline, even though we were miles and miles away!
On our drive home, we stopped at the Kangaroo Ground General Store, which has been around for over 100 years! All in all, a great afternoon, even though our kangaroo viewing was cut short!
