It’s like we’re in a whole other country…

Monday night Josh and I were taking a little walk around our neighborhood, just trying to keep ourselves awake until it was a reasonable (like, 8 pm) time to go to bed.  Suddenly we noticed some brightly colored birds flitting around us–it turns out they were parrots!

The next night, we went out to try to get some pictures of them, but the sun was already setting and it was too dark to get a good picture.  We did realize, however, that huge numbers of the parrots were roosting in some of the trees nearby and making an awful racket.  There must have been hundreds of them flying around in two trees in some poor person’s front yard.  (Think about the giant flocks of starlings that roost on UK’s campus that PPD has to shoot at to get them to leave.)  So to sum up, starlings:U.S.::parrots:Australia!

Yesterday,  I managed to get some good pictures of the little guys enjoying a cherry tree.

Not sure what these two were up to…

Can you spot all three parrots in this picture?

The big excitement in Australia today is that they have their first-ever female prime minister.  Read about how she did it here.  I do NOT understand their political system at all!

We found your blog thru Cynthia. She is visiting with Gram & Grandad.
The pics are great. Mom said some of the flowers come in the bouquets at the center.
Can the cherries be consumed by humans or just parrots?

I’m glad you found me! I was going to wait until I had a few more posts to email it to everyone. I haven’t tried the cherries yet–I’m not sure if that is actually what they are or not.
